Hi, I’m Stephanie! I'm a dancer, mover, choreographer, and teacher.
I’m a classically trained dancer, a massage and bodywork therapist, and I’m certified to teach Yoga, Pilates, and Progressing Ballet Technique. I’ve been teaching for nearly 20 years with students aged 6 months through senior citizens. I adore moving and leading others in movement and love the creativity and precision of building a class specifically designed with my students and clients in mind.
I graduated from UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography. I later graduated from The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences with an Associate's Degree in Massage Therapy and Eastern Studies. I'm incredibly interested in the physiology of the moving body and enjoy attending classes, workshops and certification programs around safe and effective movement instruction. I feel strongly that keeping movers of all ages injury free is of utmost importance and can always be prioritized in technical dance training, fun kids' classes, and adult fitness and wellness.
I’m a mom of two daughters. I have a completely awesome husband. My two cats love making appearances in my zoom classes and on Instagram.
I hope you’ll join me and my family for classes and community!
Assistant Director, Teacher
I am Brooke Yannayon and I am a creator, a teacher, a writer, and a fierce lover of bunnies!
I have been studying dance since the age of 3 and I danced competitively in tap, hip hop, contemporary, and jazz at CC & Company Dance Complex for 7 years. I studied media communication and creative writing at NC State University and was a member of Panoramic Dance Project and Fusion Dance Crew. Through these companies I studied many styles including hip hop, modern, African, Latin, Afro-Cuban, tap, bhangra, and more! I have worked in local North Carolina studios for the past six years honing my curriculum and craft for rhythm tap and hip hop programs teaching ages 2 through adults. I have participated in training programs with American Dance Festival, American Tap Dance Foundation, Contra-Tiempo Urban Latin Dance Theater Company, Syncopate Tap Intensive, Tap Kids, Tap University, Monsters of Hip Hop, and others.
I believe in dance as an incredible tool for learning, growth, entertainment, communication, art, and social action. I am honored to partner with Stephanie in making Monarch Movement Company a welcoming place of dance, movement, and community engagement!
Rebecca has used movement as a form of language her entire life. Growing up a dancer, gymnast, and cheerleader, she found that moving her body was a way to communicate with the world around her. She’s been a dance instructor for the past 8 years, varying in styles of Acro, Modern and Contemporary. She’s loved working with every age range and evolving her movement pathways over the years.
Rebecca fell in love with yoga after multiple injuries led to wear and tear on her body. She found yoga to be a safe space to move in a way that works for her body Few things beat the mental and spiritual connection she feels when finding that flow state and proper alignment.
Rebecca received her RYT 200hr in alignment based vinyasa from 110 Yoga in December, 2020. In Rebecca’s classes, you will be encouraged to find breath to movement connection, listen to your body, and move in a way that feels natural and authentic to you.
Off the mat, Rebecca is an integrative Nutrition Health Coach. She takes a holistic approach to wellness, promoting individualized care and full spectrum health. She utilizes the power of food as medicine- combined with the connection of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Rebecca is self-care loving taurus, who enjoys a relaxing day with her dog Kevin and fiancé Andy, supporting local business, and trying out new recipes.
